Ginkgo seedling splits

Does it represent One living creature
which has divided itself?
Or are these Two, which have decided,
that they should be as One?

This Ginkgo seedling germinated about 3 weeks ago in my living room and splits at the top, very special!

I am interested in planting a ginkgo into a bonsai container, but want to know if i have to plant my ginkgo into the ground first for a few years to obtain the girth that i am looking for?

Thank you, Mark

I recently purchased some ginkgo seeds and followed the directions on how to get them started. I planted 5 of the seeds in bonsai containers on October 11th of this year and still have not seen anything come up yet. The package said that it would take about 4 to 6 weeks and longer if started in fall to winter. My question is, once they have sprouted, do i need to keep them in the house (for how long)or can i put them outside and then bring them in when it gets colder?

Thnak you, Mark

Seeds gathered in January of 09 should be planted in Feb 09 or as soon as you can get them. Check with www.ginkgo-inc.com on planting. However if you just stick them in some decent soil 1/2 inches deep they will come up.

I have 2 seedlings that are now about 2-3" tall. The top of the seed is out of the dirt. Either it is growing up out of the dirt, or my dirt has settled due to being outside in the rain. Question, should I add more soil/peat moss to keep the top of the seed under the soil?
